The patterns or motifs on this ring are created using acid etching. An item is painted with a resistant material and the motif is manually scratched into the surface. The entire piece is then submerged in acid and the lines that were scratched away are eaten at by the acid and the surface that is painted is protected. The process is artisanal and imperfections should be expected and regarded as a unique characteristic to your specific piece.
